NEW DuckTales Cartoons Coming to Disney XD in 2017!

Today it was announced that the beloved DuckTales cartoon series, which was produced from 1987-1990, will see a reboot on Disney XD 30 years later in 2017.

The series, which starred Scrooge McDuck and his nephews Hewey, Dewey, and Louie in a bunch of (mis)adventures, will also bring back our beloved Donald Duck and a bunch of other denizens of Duckberg: Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell & Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys (Burger Beagle, Bouncer Beagle), Mrs. Beakley and Webbigail “Webby” Vanderquack.

“DuckTales has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation,” said Marc Buhaj—Senior Vice President, Programming and General Manager, Disney XD.

I don’t know about some of you, but for me this is awesome. I have been a lover of the original series since Day One. From the original television series to the feature movie DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp (which celebrates it’s 25th Anniversary this August) to the video game (and its recent Remastered reboot)… life has been like a hurricane for the past going on 30 years. That being said, I am a little hesitant that they are touching the show and possibly changing it. However, if the theme song is kept and the character designs stay the same, I am all for it.

Some of you might be asking…. does this mean anything for Disney Infinity? Well, it could. Disney is always looking at every opportunity for tie-ins. However, this new show is a long ways off. IF we get anything in 2017 to tie into the show, that would be in a 4.0 or 5.0 version of Disney Infinity. It is possible, but that would mean no DuckTales inside 3.0 and maybe even 4.0… and I know how some of you want your DuckTales.
