Details On The Design Process Of Disney Infinity 3.0
This past week, Disney Interactive, hosted a special pre-E3 event, showcasing the latest Disney Infinity 3.0 video game and over at Shacknews, they have an interesting article explaining how the process for developing the figures are made.
At the event, there were a number of displays showing some concept art, clay models and figures on display. Jeff Bunker, who is the Studio Art Director for Avalanche Software, shared some details on the process.
“It’s kind of funny, because most toys use pantone colors,” Bunker explained. “Pantone colors is a book of colors, thousands of color chips, and they ask you to pick your colors from those pantone colors. We don’t use pantone colors and we drive people crazy. Because even though there’s a wide range, there’s not a perfect color that we’re looking for. So for every one of our characters, every one of the colors is custom-picked for them, so they can be just right for them. We try to do anything possible to make it the best version of the character we can possibly make.”
With the huge selection of characters from Disney, Marvel and Star Wars, there is a big development process with lots of sketches and interaction with the film makers to make the best figures possible.
