Custom Corner: Crystal POPs by Elaine Ingram Walker

Sometimes all you need is a little sparkle to make a POP shine bright, and these POPs would certainly add some welcome shine to any collection.  Created by Elaine Ingram Walker, who specializes in crystallized POPs, each POP is covered in hundreds of tiny little crystals from head to toe in colors carefully selected to match the original painted figures.

Walker’s first POPs, a few Disney Villains, were gifted to her one fateful Christmas, and since then her collection grew beyond commons and into the custom realm.  When she spied a crystal POP that someone else had created she wanted to give it a go herself.  After experimenting with different sizes of crystals and many different glues, Walker settled on a process that worked for her.  Since then she has created custom crystal POPs from Maleficent to Wonder Woman to Freddy Funko himself.  While some POPs look better with crystals than others, she noted that the only character she won’t put crystals on is Batman.

A veritable expert in crystal-covered POPs, Walker has also shared what she’s learned with fellow customizers, including a full crystal tutorial on Funko’s message boards, including everything from color suggestions to where to find her glue of choice, GS Hypo Cement.

Many, many crystal POPs later, though, Walker’s favorite custom POPs are still the Disney Villains that got her into the POP game to begin with, and with that sparkly glint in their villainous eyes we can see why!
