Lego Star Wars Droid Tales: Gambit on Genosis Airs Tomorrow on Disney XD
Who else has been watching the Lego Star Wars Droid Tales series? This animated mini-series took a new spin on the Star Wars Saga, looking at it through the eyes of the ever-loving droids C-3PO and R2-D2, who have spanned all six of the movies to date (and of note, also appear in the upcoming Episode VII: The Force Awakens). This special five episode event concludes tomorrow with Gambit on Genosis, airing on Disney XD.
In Gambit on Genosis, while trying to save themselves from the grasp of General Veers and his Battle Droid factory, C-3PO and Lando Calrissian spin the events of Return of the Jedi. Along with the humorous retelling, the episode includes fun little Easter eggs perfect for Star Wars fans, including a well deserved medal ceremony. Beyond that, I am not going to give away details, but Lego sent over some stills for me to share.
I was able to see the final episode early during a special Lego Star Wars event down at the Madison Square Lego Store in New York City. Have you ever been? It’s a beautiful store.
In addition to these beautiful builds of the Statue of Liberty, the store also displays a timeline of what the property the store is on was over the years. I thought it was a great, unique addition.
At the Lego Star Wars event, life-sized models built by Lego Master Builder Erik Varszegi, including C-3PO, First Order Stormtrooper, and a bust of Rey, adorned the event space.
Also on hand was a remote controlled build of Chopper from Star Wars Rebels, and that night was its’ maiden voyage. I was informed that sound will be added in the future.
After getting to view the Droid Tales episode, we were able to look at some of the Star Wars Lego items on display, including builds from the upcoming The Force Awakens movie.

One of the highlights on display is the upcoming Lego Star Wars art book Small Scene from a Big Galaxy, by photographer Vesa Lehtimaki. I was looking forward to seeing this book, being that I love pushing myself as an amateur photographer. What’s awesome is that the Lego team gave each guest at the event a copy of the book to take home, so expect to see a review from me in the near future.
Overall, it was a very fun Lego event, which featured the fun final episode in the Droid Tales series. If you have time tomorrow, check out Disney XD and check it out.
