The Good Dinosaur Review
The Good Dinosaur was released on Wednesday, November 25th in theaters across the US and Thursday, November 26th in the UK. I have to say that I was excited to see this movie, not only because it is a Disney/Pixar movie but also because of the story behind the movie. And this is the first time in Pixar history that two feature films have been released in the same year. But I know that this movie cannot stand up to the craziness of Frozen.
It is the sixteenth Pixar movie released and made $39.1 million (USA) on opening weekend and It has a running time of 100 minutes but it honestly did not feel like the movie was that long. It is the type of movie that has you drawn in every second.
During the previews, you get a look at a two of the upcoming Disney and Disney/Pixar films coming. They include Zootopia (Disney) with a release date of March 4, 2016 and Finding Dory (Disney/Pixar) with a release date of June 17, 2016. But we also get a chance to see the newest Disney Short before the movie begins. Sanjay’s Super Team was really cute and has a powerful message behind it.
In The Good Dinosaur, we take a look at what life would have been like if the astrorids had not killed off the dinosaurs some 65 million years ago. The dinosaurs take on the roles as if they were human. We are introduced to the Apatosaurus, the pterodactyl, T-Rex, Styracosaurus, Velociraptors and a few other odd ball animals.
The attention to detail in the animation of this movie is amazing. From the colors of the dinosaurs and animals, to the flow of the river to the rain drops on the trees, to the color details on the dinosaurs and other creatures. Poppa always told Arlo “as long as you can find the river, you can find your way home.”
The dinosaurs travel through mysterious and harsh landscape as Arlo learns to confront his fears and to discover what he is capable of. He makes some new friends along the way and also meets some very nasty dinosaurs as well. Arlo and Spot are what makes this movie great in my eyes. Their love hate relationship is something you just cannot look past.
It is Arlo’s destiny to get back to his family and to be able to leave his mark on the silo that his Poppa worked so hard on. And Arlo finds the strength and courage to find his way back to Claw Tooth Mountain to be reunited with Momma, Buck and Libby.
You are pulled in many different directions when it comes to your emotions in this movie. From joy, to heartbreak, to fear, to excitement, to love and to freedom.
If you are an AMC Stubs member, make sure to see The Good Dinosaur and ask if they have any of the limited pins available for you. I know that they are very limited but it never hurts to ask. There are two designs available and they both have Arlo and Spot but know that these are blind bags.
So, if you have not had the chance to go see The Good Dinosaur, go and see it! Take the kids or maybe just a little you time at the movie.
The Good Dinosaur, in theaters everywhere!
