Star Wars and the Power of Costume- NYC Walkthrough
Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the newest of the awesome exhibits at Discovery Times Square on 44th Street in New York City. Rebel, Jedi, Princess, Queen- Star Wars and the Power of Costume takes a look at some of the iconic, and beautiful, costumes from the Star Wars universe. From A New Hope through the prequel trilogy, and even including items from The Force Awakens, which comes out next week, this exhibit, sponsored in part by The Smithsonian and LucasFilm Ltd., was breathtaking.
Before the exhibit started, we were treated to a brief video explaining some of what we would see in the rest of the exhibit. Along the walls of the small theater was concept art from the films. I already knew we were in for a treat.
From there, the “blast door” opened and the rest of the exhibit started. I am going to shut up now and just share the beautiful pictures.

Well, there you have it. Star Wars and the Power of Costume. It took us about an hour and a half to enjoy the exhibit. We didn’t rush it, but we did not stop to watch every little video and read every snippet of text. It also wasn’t crowded when we went, which allowed for better photos and a more relaxed atmosphere (helped that we went early in the morning on a weekday). However, with the hype of next week’s movie and a heightened community surrounding the Star Wars fandom, expect larger crowds this holiday season.
The Star Wars and the Power of Costume exhibit runs through September 5th of 2016 at Discovery Times Square. For more information on some of the items in the exhibit, you can visit The Smithsonian’s website.
