Best Of 2015 – Movies
As we go into 2016, some of the DisKingdom team took some time to look back on some of their favourite moments of 2015 from the world of Disney, Marvel and Star Wars.
Here are our top movies of 2015:
Roger – 2015 was a excellent year for Disney movies, there have been some huge movies like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Inside Out and Avengers: Age Of Ultron are all extremely well made movies and I felt they all are worth watching over and over. Ant-Man is another great movie that caught me by surprise as I didn’t have huge expectation before the movie came out. But if I had to say one movie that I loved the most, it has to be Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it had everything I wanted to see from a Star Wars movie and the retro feel with a collection of new characters, planets and just the idea we don’t know what’s going to happen, I don’t honestly think I can choose anything else.
Amber – Honestly, my favorite is probably “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, it did an excellent job in re-sparking my interest in the Star Wars universe and it has received a permanent place on my favorites shelf. That said, I want to take this opportunity to give a shout-out to Marvel’s “Ant-Man”. I admit, I didn’t want to watch it at first, but when I finally sat down to view the film it blew me away. Paul Rudd’s portrayal of Scott Lang is on point for this very clever little tale, and overall it’s a perfect mix of badassery and fun, with a couple nudges to the ribs at our heroes expense. This is a movie that knows exactly what it is, and it flourishes for it.
Kimberly – I really enjoyed Inside Out. I was skeptical after watching the trailer since it seemed like the humans were robots controlled by little people. But after watching the movie, the inside and outside world fit together nicely and created a sweet story. It was a really unique concept.
Chase – Personally, I think the best movie of 2015 was Star Wars the Force Awakens. After waiting many years, a new movie was finally released, and there is no doubt that its awesome! The new technology in the move is spectacular!! Oh, and BB8 is an absolute comical blast!
Matthew – The best Disney and sci-fi movie of the year is of course Tomorrow: A Land Beyond. This movie pairs nostalgic memories of the theme park with an enjoyable plot and cast. In case it’s not clear, that is all sarcasm due to a certain ant. Marvel’s latest epic had the usual staples of a Marvel movie, a cheesy villain and post-credit scene for example but on a much smaller scale. Instead of the whole world being at risk, Ant-Man helps to combat the inevitable Marvel fatigue by putting the story of a criminal father wanting visitation rights. Ant-Man proves that Marvel is not just the end-of-the-world action that we have come to expect (with a few exceptions of course).
