WDW Review: Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar (Disney Springs)
While down at Walt Disney World in Florida last week, I had the opportunity to visit and dine at one of Disney Springs’ newest eateries: Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar. Themed after the adventures of the Indiana Jones’ franchise character Jock Lindsey, this bar, situated in an old airplane hangar, serves a wide variety of drinks as well as small appetizer plates. On this trip, fellow DisKingdom writer Joshua Pirtle joined me for lunch. With both of us being Indiana Jones fans, it wasn’t hard to decide where we would dine this day. We actually have had this planned for months, since the bar didn’t open until this past October.
The first thing we can appreciate is the exterior of the Hangar Bar, which looks like a converted airplane hangar. Situated on the edge of Village Lake, the exterior dining area and bar also sports Jock Lindsey’s dry-docked boat, named “Reggie” after his pet snake. We can also see that Jock offered both boat and airplane tours back in the day.
Inside the bar, you are in sensory overload. I was constantly seeing new artifacts and fun little nods to the movie franchise. From Indy’s jacket and the Headpiece to the Staff of Ra appearing in the “Lost and Found” to Reggie’s empty cage to the fact that artifacts are no longer accepted as payment… I am sure I will be finding even more fun “Easter Eggs” with future visits.
After oogling at the interior decorations for a while, we finally sat down and took a look at the menu, which is filled with libations from around the world, and some appetizers to complement them. The menu, decked out to look like Jock Lindsey’s Pilot’s Log Book, is very colorful and inviting… which makes you want to order everything.
As it stands, neither Josh nor I are drinkers, so we opted to try one of each of the non-alcoholic drinks: he the Teddy’s Tea and Diving Bell, and I the Antidote and Poisonless Dart.
The Antidote is basically a Shirley Temple. The Diving Bell had a very strong Watermelon taste, and the Poisonless Dart was very bitter with the combination of lime and mint. We both agreed that the only one we would reorder in the future is the Teddy’a Tea.
As far as the food is concerned, that is what we focused on. Out of the nine dishes the bar offers, we sampled five of them: Snack of Ra, Air Pirate’s Pretzels, Tanis Tacos, Dr. Elsa’s Shrimp BLT Flatbread, and Squid! Why’d it Have to be Squid?
Out of all of the dishes we sampled, we liked all of them except for the Snack of Ra, mainly because the flavors weren’t ones we were too keen on. The spreads for the breads in the Snack of Ra, including eggplant and chicken curries, were good, just not what we were expecting. The other four were quite delicious (it was Josh’s first time eating squid). The next time I go I will probably have the flatbread and pretzels, asking for more of the cheese dipping saucy and no spicy mustard, which was really spicy.
Overall, Josh and I really enjoyed our time at the Hangar Bar, and look forward to going back in the future. One of the reasons why is the collectible coasters… yes, I said collectible coasters.
From what the cast members at the Hangar Bar informed me, there will be sixteen total coasters, each featuring a fictional bar from the Indiana Jones universe, and beyond. While I was there, I was able to get four of the coasters released so far. There is also a fifth currently in rotation, but that coaster, Le Lapin Agile, was out of stock when I was there. Still, I’m especially stoked about getting the Club Obi-Wan coaster to start off my collection. Looking forward to getting them all.
If you are looking for a fun place to dine and have a fun time with friends, check out Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, located at Disney Springs in the Landing Section, tucked between Paradiso 37 and The Boathouse. Seating is open style, with first come, first served. Most days, they are open from 11:30am until late into the evening (midnight or later).
