Walt Disney World Sweeps Orlando Foodie Awards
Any Walt Disney World fan knows that the resort has some of the best restaurants around, but sometimes it’s hard not to wonder if that’s only because the food is seen through Mickey Mouse colored glasses. Well, wonder no more, because the Orlando Sentinal’s 18th Annual Foodie Awards have just confirmed all those pixie dust-sprinkled thoughts. The Sentinal has two award classifications: Reader’s and Critic’s Choice, the latter being chosen by Food Editor Heather McPherson. Walt Disney World snatched up six combined wins in both award sections with some fan favorite eateries.
Victoria and Albert’s at The Grand Floridian took Best Hotel Restaurant and won runner up in both romantic categories for readers and McPherson.
The Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue at Fort Wilderness won Critic’s Choice for Best Dinner Show and was chosen as runner up for the Reader category, behind Medieval Times in Kissimmee.
The Readers chose Boma at The Animal Kingdom Lodge for the Best African restaurant and the newer Capa restaurant at the Four Seasons was chosen by McPherson for Best Spanish Restaurant.
Be Our Guest in New Fantasyland won Best Theme Park Restaurant from the Readers, while Monsieur Paul in Epcot won the same award from McPherson.
Walt Disney World Dining is always exquisite and is a huge proponent of what keeps people coming back to the parks. The total immersion that Disney imparts to their attractions carries over also to their restaurants and it most certainly pays off. While Disney was well represented in the awards, no other Central Florida theme park even made the list.

I am surprised that The Yachtsman Steak House wasn’t on the list! That just means I will have to try the restaurants mentioned!! Oh darn, another trip to Disney!!!!
