US Disney Parks Employees Losing Labor Hours to Save Shanghai Disney
Disney Fans have slowly but surely noticed some changes within the Disney Parks within the US recently, mainly in the Entertainment cuts. But now it seems that Cast members will be affected by Shanghai Disney as well.
It has come to light through WDWinfo.com that Shanghai Disney is not only behind schedule but way over budget and so the domestic parks have been having to help out financially by cutting back.
We have already seen a spike in Disney hotel rates but mainly in the entertainment department does guests have concerns. After all, that’s what guests are mostly paying for when they come visit the Disney Parks. For example, a few characters from EPCOT have made their leave, including Princess Aurora, Pooh , Tigger, Chip and Dale. Cinderella’s evil stepmother, Lady Tremaine, and her stepsisters , Anastasia and Drizella , have made their leave from Magic Kingdom as well. Disney world has also cut down the number of fireworks shows and daily parades. There will only be one showing of Fantasmic until the Easter crowds start and only one showing on the Main Street Electrical Parade. Although they have announced a new castle show and extended the stay of Club Villain at Disney’s Hollywood Studios but have increased the ticket price from $100 to $129.
But now the Cast members are about to suffer with the domestic parks beginning to cut labor hours. Disneyland Resort has already begun a 20% reduction in labor costs in various departments such as Attractions, Guest Relations, Custodial and more. Departments such as Front Desk and Concierge will only be allowed 32 hours a week after the changes. Disney World will begin seeing these same changes quite soon and some Disney World cast members have already taken notice in their schedules.
Personally I feel rather than Disney Cast members suffering for the Shanghai Disney issue that Disney Higher ups like Bob Iger could simply take a temporary pay cut to help with costs.
Should Domestic Disney Parks Cast members have to take a pay cut in order to save Disney’s newest international park?
