POP! COUNTDOWN #3: DEADPOOL CLASSIC RED SUIT
Welcome to this week’s Pop! Countdown! I post this weekly on popvinyls.com, but when it’s Disney/Marvel, it will be posted here too! The biggest thing in pop culture and collectibles at this moment is of course, Deadpool. Not only the subject of this month’s Marvel Collector’s Corps and Lootcrate, the movie also broke box office records and continues to gross in the millions. So, of course, the newest line of Deadpool pops was the natural choice for this week! For this countdown, I considered only classic red-suited deapool pops from the new wave. Color variants can be a future countdown. So, let’s jump in ninja-style.
#7. Chef Deadpool
This week’s bottom feeder came as no surprise to me. The chef deadpool pop is not even on shelves yet, so we have not gotten the chance to fairly judge the figure. Also, of the variants here, the chef is a little lackluster. But Deadpool’s awesome, so even the least exciting pop is a freaking cool pop!
#6. Thumbs Up Deadpool
At number six, we have the standard thumbs up red deadpool. I love this standard mold compared to the original comic version pop of deadpool. It just looks cooler to me. Of course, all of the cool variants are going to outshine the regular one, but I think Funko did an outstanding job with the mold. I have to have it in every color!
#5. Pirate Deadpool
This Hot Topic exclusive variant makes our list at number five this week. While I like the idea of pirate deadpool, I just found it less cool than the other variants and respondents agreed. Do not get me wrong, it is still a really cool pop, but deadpool’s funny side shows more in some of the other variants.
#4. Cowboy Deadpool
The other yet-to-be-released pop falls at number four. This happens to be my favorite variant because I think it captures just how silly deadpool is perfectly. I love the cowboy hat and the pony stick and I just think Funko hit a slam dunk with this piece.
#3. Two Swords Deadpool
The other new standard deadpool pop made its way to number three this week. My least favorite of the two, it was the clear winner when it came to the two standard pops amongst respondents. It showcases deadpool from a point of strength with this stance and I think that is why people like this pop so much. Sure, deadpool is silly, but he’s also a complete bad ass and this pop shows that.
#2. Rubber Chicken Deadpool
Number two this week is rubber chicken deadpool. It gains its spot on this list for the innuendos it can provide alone. That was the number one response I got when I posted this one. Everyone loves what this pop is doing in a funny way. Robert Tremaroli wrote that this pop was his favorite “because he is choking his chicken!” LOL
#1. Bath Time Deadpool
The clear front runner this week is bath time deadpool. This Target exclusive had everyone hunting as soon as it hit shelves and remains the favorite still. The bath cap and rubber ducky are adorable and perfectly show why deadpool is so different from other comic book characters. Phil Andrade wrote, “It’s just so Deadpool!” That is why this pop strikes such a chord. It is just so darn characteristic of him.
