Mickey Mouse #10 Comic Book Review

Mickey Mouse #10 consists of 4 different stories from across the globe, 3 of which haven’t been seen in the US before, this months helping includes Shadow of the Colossus (Part 1 of 2) from Italian Topolino 2593, 2005, Statuesque Scholar from Dutch Donald Duck 34/2005, No Good Deed… from German Micky Maus 16/2008 and finally Have Brain, Will Travel from Mickey Mouse Sunday comic strip, 1950.

The main story of this book is called “Shadow of the Colossus” and will continue into the next comic book. The story sees Mickey & Goofy travel to Greece, to bump into Eurasia, who has discovered a long lost statue which catches the attention of a local group of masked protectors. This is a interesting story that is nice to see Mickey in other locations outside the US and I like how the comics use Eurasia, who is a lot more interesting female character than Minnie or Daisy to me.

This is followed by a quick single page strip featuring “Statuesque Scholar”, which features Horrace and Clarabelle in a funny little piece.

“No Good Deed…” Is featured around Peg Leg Pete is a strange story, it follows Pete up to no good and during a robbery, he meets a boy and let’s just say, I never expected the story to end how it did but again his was a great way of expanding these lesser known characters that only comics seem to manage and this was a highlight.

And finally we have “Have Brain, Will Travel” featuring Ellsworth and Goofy in a short story that shows how Goofy really doesn’t understand his pet bird.

Mickey Mouse #10 has many newer stories from the 2000’s, plus a older story from the 50’s, but it’s the mix of longer and short that I like the most as we get to learn more about the different characters, though I’d guess Mickey Mouse fans might want a little more Mouse involved in his own book, but for me I like the mix of new & old with different characters.
