Disney and Marvel Threaten to Boycott Georgia Over Anti-Gay Law

Georgia is the go to destination for filming locations due to the low cost of resources and tax breaks offered as incentives in order to film in the state. It is currently a primary location for Marvel to film its projects but not for long it may seem.

Georgia is in the process of possibly signing an “Anti- Gay Law” in which the proposed law , House Bill 757, would allow some businesses to discriminate based on a patron’s sexuality.

Now Marvel has filmed many films here such as “Ant-man” and  “Captain America: Civil War.” They are currently filming “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2.” in Georgia. But Marvel and their parent company, Disney, are threatening to boycott if this law is passed.

“Disney and Marvel are inclusive companies, and although we have had great experiences filming in georgia, we will plan to take our business elsewhere should any legislation allowing discriminatory practices be signed into state law.” said a Disney Representative.

This could cost Georgia economy $450 million annually in direct spending and 4,000 jobs should this boycott take place.

Do you support Disney and Marvel’s decision to boycott should this law take effect?
