“They’re Still At War” Adam Driver Spills Some Star Wars Beans

If you thought peace among the stars would break out after the the First Order was seemingly defeated at the end of Episode 7: The Force Awakens, think again. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kylo Ren actor Adam Driver gives some teases for Episode 8 as well as what it’s like on set with new director Rian Johnson.

When asked about the differences between J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson Driver replied “Their temperaments are different, I feel like there was so many moving pieces in the first one – just trying to solve it and set the vocabulary for what it was. There’s a lot of that anxiety is gone, because people have developed a language. I think it’s more of a testament to Rian coming into something very established and making it [his own].” As for his own involvement Driver added “I can’t wait to get on set, just because he’s so unassuming and intelligent and approachable. The script they’ve come up with is really great.” 

The Force Awakens grossed over 2 billion dollars worldwide and became one of the most successful movies ever domestically. Did all the success change Adam Driver at all? “I didn’t turn into a new person, nothing happened to me. But a lot of people saw it, and that was good. I guess my Christmas is kind of easier now – the toys and things for family. Kids is a big thing: I feel like before parents kept me away from their kids; now it’s like, go get a picture.”

And what can we expect with Star Wars: Episode 8?  “They’re still at war. It’s still Star Wars…They’re not at peace.”. 

What does this mean for our heroes? Star Wars: Episode 8 is due to be released December 15th, 2017.
