Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Concept Art Released

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has revealed the first look at the upcoming sequel featuring well known characters like Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, Drax, Nebula and Yondu.  There is also a great shot of a different looking Groot, who hasn’t grown back to his original size.

The concept art also shows the newcomer Mantis (Pom Klementieff), who is a member of the Guardians in the comic books, she is the  ‘Celestial Madonna’, and possesses incredible martial arts skills and many mental powers like telepathy, empathic control, and chlorokinesis – control over plant life.

Gunn said “this image led us a lot as we were developing the film. I can’t wait to show you guys more of what we have in store for you…”  Gunn also suggested more details on the movie would be revealed at San Diego Comic Con.

Executive producer Jonathan Schwartz spoke with Entertainment Weekly saying Mantis “has never really experienced social interaction. Everything she learns about dealing with people, she learns from the Guardians of the Galaxy, which is a very weird group to learn your social intricacies from.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 comes to cinemas in May 2017.
