Game Review: Disney Emoji Blitz
It’s been just under two weeks since Disney released their newest mobile app game: Disney Emoji Blitz. When it released I was traveling, so I did not get to download until I got back a few days after launch. Since then, I have been pretty addicted to the game. Why? Let’s take a look.
Disney Emoji Blitz combines the cuteness overload and game advancement that you can find in their Tsum Tsum app, with the board layout similar to their Free Fall games, where you are matching rows and columns of matching character emojis.
Now, the ultimate goal of the game is to unlock special Disney Emojis for your handheld smart-device.

There are a few different ways you can do this:
- Purchasing Silver or Gold Boxes in the Emoji Shop, which will possibly unlock a new character, or level up an existing character. Unfortunately, you can buy boxes in hopes of getting a new character, but only end up getting a repeat (I already have gotten a second Minnie). In order to buy boxes, you need to earn coins, which you can earn from playing the game, completing missions and leveling up, and (starting at Level 10) completing daily challenges.
2. Completing Item Collections, which drop within the game boards. Cycle them down through the puzzle boards to get credit for them. There are a lot of very unique emojis that can be unlocked this way.
3. Special Events: during the launch of this game around World Emoji Day (July 17th), daily character giveaways happened. I got Mickey and Minnie from this giveaway since I started late to the launch. Not sure when upcoming events will happen, but hopefully we can get a crack at some of the Gold Box emojis.
So far, I have gotten a few of the Silver Box emojis and Kermit from the Gold Box emojis. I am enjoying not just the selection of characters represented, but all of the emojis I can unlock for texting purposes.
If you connect with your Facebook account, you can see what scores your friends who are playing the game with the Leaderboard. Not sure if the top players that week get anything as far as coins or anything, but it’s fun to see where you at least rank with others.
Now, the texting portion of this app you need to activate on your individual devices. Once you do, you can create a picture of up to three emojis and then send that picture. It’s not as free-flowing as regular texting or emojis… but it’s still a lot of fun.
As with most of Disney’s mobile apps, the game is free to download, but there are in-app purchases that you can make if you need boosts in the game, including more coins, extending the time if you have a rare item on the board you want to try to continue to remove, etc. This currency-for-cash comes in the form of gems, which you can also obtain occasionally through regular game play. I have yet to find a reason to actually spend any money in the game, which is a nice feature that both Disney Magic Kingdoms and Disney Crossy Road did not provide me (both those games had characters that you needed to spend money on to unlock).
Overall, Disney Emoji Blitz is a very fun game, and the added bonus of having new emojis to send to my fellow Disney friends. If you are looking for a new addicting game, try our Disney Emoji Blitz.
I bought a new iphone, and then when i installed the app emoji, but when i opened the app they made me play the tutorial and i couldn’t recover my level and my emojis… what should i do?
