Maker Studios have confirmed that they will be laying off staff, as part of a “strategic adjustments.” No exact numbers have yet been confirmed, though its rumoured to be around 30 people.
“Maker Studios’ business is constantly evolving and after careful thought, we have decided to make some strategic adjustments – reducing staff in some areas while still actively hiring in others – to best align with the go-forward strategy of the company,” the spokesperson said via email to Variety.
Following Disney purchasing the company for $500 million in 2014, the company has branched out away from its YouTube origins and while there had been plans to launch their own service, it never came to anything and recently the company has gone through some management changes.
