Tsum Tsum Tuesday: Marvel Series 2 (JAKKS Pacific)
Happy Tsum Tsum Tuesday everyone!
This past weekend, while strolling through Toys ‘R’ Us and Walmart, I came across something that up until then I was only thinking of a possibility: JAKKS Pacific has released a second series of their Marvel Tsum Tsum line of vinyl figures. Expanding upon their initial line of iconic characters from the Marvel universe, Series 2 includes the likes of Spider Gwen, Ms. Marvel, Iron Fist, The Hulk, and Jane Foster as Thor.
First up, let’s take a look at the checklist, which gives a rundown of the characters that can be collected in this series. As with the Disney line, it is made up of both new and returning characters, some of which are rarer/ harder to get and look to be available in special packs.
As far as the ways to get these figures, 3pk and 9pk assortments have come back with this series. Three 9pk assortments have been released so far, each with what looks like exclusives to those packs. Let’s check them out. (NOTE: I am guessing on the exclusives, based on the checklist rarities and inclusions.)
Spider-Man vs The Sinister Six
Exclusives: All but Spider-Man.
(Spider-Man also available in Series 1.)
Classic Avengers!
Exclusives: Iron Man (Mark I), Loki, possibly Ultron
(Thor, Captain America, and Vision also available in Series 1. Wasp also available in Women of POWer! pack- below.)
Women of POWer! (Walmart Exclusive)
Exclusives: Medusa, Ms. Marvel, Thor (Jane Foster), She-Hulk
(Spider Gwen is also available in 3pks. Spider-Woman, Gamora, and Black Widow are also available in Series 1.)
While I like that you can easily get a bunch of “exclusives” for this series, I think the popularity of Women of POWer! pack will make it especially hard to find at Walmart stores. Aside from that, the themeing of the packs is a lot of fun, and something I wish they started doing with the Disney series.
Now let’s took at the 3pks, which introduces a new concept for that size of packs… the Mystery Character!.
We have seen the mystery concept in the 9pks, but for Marvel Tsum Tsum Series 2, all of the 3pks will have a mystery medium figure. Upside? An added level of collectibility and fun. Downside? Possible doubles you weren’t looking to get. Yes, the same as in all “blind-boxing”, but at least this time around, there are special Silver Blast Tsum Tsum: silver versions of Captain America and Spider-Man. In the 3pks I purchased, I was very lucky to get a medium Silver Blast Captain America… which looks pretty sharp.
Overall, I’m liking the lineup for this series. I am still not sure how all of the figures will be available (I am assuming there will be a Mystery Stack Pack series coming as well, but nothing has been confirmed.)
Next week for Tsum Tsum Tuesday, we will take a look at the new Tsum Tsum Lip Balms from Lipsmackers.
Which 3 pack did silver blast captain America come in?
It was random. I forget exactly which one.
