Netflix Add Downloading Option But It Doesn’t Include Disney Titles Yet
Netflix have recently added a offline mode for their mobile App on iOS and Android devices, allowing subscribers to download selected titles to their devices to enjoy on the go. The new option is available worldwide and is included in all packages.
However currently, Disney titles aren’t available to download on the app, such as Inside Out and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Polygon spoke with Netflix regarding this issue and were told:
“Netflix is working with lots of partners globally to get downloading rights for the bulk of the content on our service. This is an ongoing effort as we know consumers want this capability and we are working to provide it.”
It does seem like Netflix have launched this new option, focusing primarily on their own content, while working out deals with other companies. As “downloading” will require different licensing than “streaming”, so hopefully this option will be added later.
Would you like to be able to play Disney movies on the go without connection?
