Disney May Get A $50 Million Pay Out From Carrie Fisher’s Death
Following the death of Star Wars actress, Carrie Fisher, Disney is expected to get one of the biggest personal accident payouts in history, as Disney took out a $50 million contract protection policy with Lloyds of London, on the actress, according to Insurance Insider.
Disney took out the insurance, to protect themselves if Carrie was unable to complete her role in the upcoming movies such as Episode VIII and IX. While the filming for episode VIII has completed, Disney will have to make some adjustments for episode IX, such as possibly re-writing the script to kill the character off or even doing a CGI version of the character, like we saw in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
The policy was underwritten by specialist New Jersey-based managing general agent Exceptional Risk Advisors. This is standard practice for companies to insure against the potential impact of a important staff member not being able to complete their job.
