Maker Studios Set For More Layoffs
Disney’s Maker Studios is reported to be making some changes to how many YouTube creators it wishes to work with, currently they have thousands of creators signed up with them and will not be resigning contracts with smaller creators as appears they will focusing their effort on their top 300 creators.
As part of this change in direction, Maker Studios is set to undergo a round of staff cuts that Hollywood Reporter sources describe as significant.
Disney purchased Maker Studios in 2014 and while it was originally set to leave the company to run itself, following some high level staff changes, it was merged in with its Disney Consumer Products & Interactive Media division, as Maker Studios was integrated into Disney.
