Star Wars Battlefront 2 Free Seasons Plan Revealed
At the EA Live event from E3 in Los Angeles, some of the details for Star Wars Battlefront 2 were announced including in-game events, quests, and challenges to help keep the game fresh.
Unlike the last games Season Pass, there will now be Seasons, where the first one releases in December and is inspired by Star Wars: The Last Jedi. EA also confirmed that all of this content will be feee for anyone who plays the game.
EA have said “Every player who owns Star Wars Battlefront II will have access to the same iconic characters, planetary conflicts, sleek starfighters, and epic space battles throughout the entirety of the post-release support period. This starts with the Star Wars: The Last Jedi Season coming this December, where all Star Wars Battlefront II players will get access to Finn, Captain Phasma, the new planet Crait, and more.”
Other news includes that new heroes will also come with new Star Cards, which allow players
to customize their favorite heroes and classes using the Star Cards, which come in four rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic – all of which can be earned through play by playing the in-game quests and challenges, taking part in events, and opening Crates can all grant Star Cards, which allow you to further customize your trooper, hero, and starfighter abilities.
It’s great to see EA learn from some of the mistakes of the previous game, adding extra content through Seasons will extend the games life and keep players engaged in the game. One quick note is while the Seasons might be free, the wording of opening “Crates” for Star Cards, looks to be the way this game will be funded by microtranactions, like many other games such as Marvel Heroes Omega and Overwatch. I also suspect other add-ons can be purchased, but these will be much more optional compared to the previous Season Pass system.
