Silly Symphony Inspired “Cuphead” Game Coming In September
During the Microsoft E3 presentation, a small independent game called “Cuphead” was revealed to be releasing on PC and Xbox One on September 29th 2017. While this game isn’t an official Disney game, one thing is very obvious as it wasn’t heavily inspired by Walt Disney’s Silly Symphony cartoons from the 1930’s, and two characters that could easily be taken for Mickey Mouse and Oswald The Lucky Rabbit with a few adjustments. This title looks to be a lot of fun and it might be the closest we get to a “Silly Symphony” video game.
Here is a look at the trailer:
Description
Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional hand drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings. Play as Cuphead or Mugman (in single player or local co-op) as you traverse strange worlds, acquire new weapons, learn powerful super moves, and discover hidden secrets while you try to pay your debt back to the devil!
