Disney Tsum Tsum Has Earned $1 Billion Since Launch

It was announced this week by Line, that the free-to-play puzzle mobile game, Disney Tsum Tsum has pulled in over $1 billion in lifetime revenue since launching in 2014. The game has been downloaded over 70 million times in 155 countries and is available on iOS and Android.

Line have said that the game is one of its “main pillar” of its content business as it is “substantial portion” of its revenue.

“Our growth depends on our ability to consistently launch new games, whether developed internally or by third-party game developers, that achieve significant popularity, as well as to upgrade popular games with new features that our users find attractive,” explained Line.

“Our failure to maintain good relationships with third-party game developers or attract new developers could adversely affect our business, financial condition and results of operations.”

Since the launch of the game, 137 Tsum Tsum have appeared in the game (as of May 31, 2017), from well-known Disney mainstays Mickey Mouse and Princesses to characters from their new films such as Jedi Luke and Darth Vader from “Star Wars,” appealing to a wide range of users. The game will surely keep its fans entertained as it continues to introduce more characters in the future.

Throughout the game, players collect Disney, Disney•Pixar and Star Wars Tsum Tsum. Each collectable character can be leveled up over time and has a special ability that provides in-game help. The most popular character for leveling up is Cinderella – Tsum Tsum with a clear skill that allows players to connect long chains of different Tsum Tsum and clear them as many times as they can within the time limit. Beast (from Beauty and the Beast) was the second most-popular and Maleficent Dragon (Sleeping Beauty) was ranked third.

1st: Cinderella

2nd: Beast

3rd: Maleficent Dragon

4th: Scar

5th: Jasmine

6th: Jedi Luke

7th: Jafar

8th: Maleficent

9th: Birthday Anna

10th: Simba

From the service launch to May 31, 2017, LINE: Disney Tsum Tsum was played 165.4 billion times worldwide, with nearly 2.5 billion Tsum Tsum acquired through Happiness Boxes and Premium Boxes.

In the course of all that gameplay, nearly 61.8 trillion Tsum Tsum have been cleared. How many is that? If you assume the average Tsum Tsum is 7mm across (the size when played on a 4.7-inch smartphone), then 61.8 trillion Tsum Tsum would form a line 432 million kilometers long – the distance from Earth to Mars and back.
