Review: Jada Toys’ D23 Expo Exclusives

I don’t know about you, but there were some amazing exclusives at D23 Expo 2017. Three of these exclusives came from Jada Toys, who released the first in their upcoming Disney and Pixar lines of die cast collectibles. For the Disney line, a special metallic painted 6″ Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey ($30, LE 1000) was joined by a 4″ figure Sleeping Beauty 2pk ($30, LE 1000), featuring a metallic Briar Rose and a Glow in the Dark Maleficent Dragon. For Pixar, Cruz Ramirez from CARS 3 ($50, LE 750) took to the streets. Very popular at the event, a friend of mine helped me obtain these pieces, which I took a closer look at. Let’s take a look.

Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey 6″

This metallic version of Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey from Fantasia stands at 6″ tall and come in a open windowed display box, as seen above. This is a beautiful piece even before you take it out of the box, but sparkles and shines out of packaging.

Sleeping Beauty 4″ 2pk

Featuring 4″ metallic versions of Maleficent (Dragon) and Briar Rose from Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent also has some glow in the dark elements with her eyes and flames. NOTE: Briar Rose requires an extra plastic rod (attached to her) for support, and on uneven surfaces she is still quite top-heavy.

Cruz Ramirez- CARS 3

Cruz comes in a special plastic display case and is attached to the base by screws. She also has a working hood which can be flipped up to reveal her engine.

 

As a special treat, on Disneyland’s 62nd birthday on July 17th, the three Disney pieces came with me to The Happiest Place on Earth to celebrate the day and the official re-opening of Fantasmic!
