Marvel Heroes Omega Closing On Friday

Recently it was announced that Marvel Heroes Omega will be shutting down at the end of the year, but according to reports, the game will be ending much earlier, on Friday 24th November.

This is due to Gazillion completely closing, as employees at the company were informed on Thanksgiving Eve that they were being laid off.  Multiple former employees have taken to Twitter to announce their layoffs, who have said they will not by paid severance, won’t get their PTO and even their medical insurance will be ending.

According to Massivelyop, staff were sent a termination letter written by CEO Dave Dohrmann stating that banking creditors have effectively pulled the plug on the company, leading to the termination of almost every employee at the studio and the apparent renege of benefits.

Nothing has been officially announced, but with many of the team talking about it openly on social media, those planning on getting the trophies or achievements, might want to spend the day doing it or enjoying one last hurrah in the game.

Disney pulled the plug on the game last week, saying:

We regret to inform our Marvel Heroes fans that we have ended our relationship with Gazillion Entertainment, and that the Marvel Heroes games will be shut down. We would like to sincerely thank the players who joined the Marvel Heroes community, and will provide any further updates as they become available.

The issues with Gazillion have been running for a while, with the port to consoles causing major issues with content for the game, as they didn’t have enough staff to do the job properly, resulting in the game suffering from players leaving the game and the company making less money.  There were also some allegations against its CEO, which may have been a bigger issue with Disney and one of the reasons why Gazillion had its contract ended.

Many games companies have been reaching out to those staff effected by the closure of Gazillion and hopefully the former team members can get new jobs as quickly as possible, as being laid off at any time if awful but right on the holidays is dreadful and our thoughts are with them at this time.
