Marvel Two-In-One #1 Review
The Fantastic Four are back, well sort of, as Grimm has to track down Johnny Storm after Doctor Doom gives Grimm a way of finding Reed, Sue and their children, who are lost somewhere in the multiverse.
This comic book helps setup the initial story, while delivering a easy jump on point for any new reader jumping in. Throw in a Spider-Man cameo and a nod to what the Human Torch and Thing have been doing with the Inhumans and Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s nice to see these two back together, especially them bickering like brothers.
A major part of the story is about how they are struggling with the loss of their family and being a family was always the core of the Fantastic Four. So while this isn’t technically a Fantastic Four comic, it feels like it.
It’s also great to see Doctor Doom as the main villain of the story, manipulating Grimm into teaming up with Johnny to find their family, as there is no doubt much more to it than Doom let’s on.
The art style is very impressive, Johnny Storm explodes off the screen with bright bold colours and there is plenty of detail to showcase The Thing in all his glory.
OVERALL : Bringing The Thing and the Human Torch together again to hopefully bring back the Fantastic Four into the Marvel Universe has to be a good thing (and now the issues with Fox being removed, the Fantastic Four can return to past glories). This is a very enjoyable read, with “Fantastic” artwork that make this a easy recommendation.
REVIEW SCORE: 8 out of 10
I’m not much of a Fantastic Four fan, but I did enjoy this issue quite a bit. Probably posting my own review later in the week.
