LEGO Star Wars Tatooine Battle Pack – 75198 Review

One of the new 2018 LEGO Star Wars sets is the Tatooine Battle Pack – 75198, based on a scene from Star Wars: A New Hope.  This set includes 97 pieces, which includes a service vehicle with stud shooters and an articulated crane, Astromech Droid, 2 Jawas and a Tusken Raider minifigure.   Plus two stud blasters for the Jawas and the Tusken Raider’s gaffi stick.

Here is a closer look at the packaging for this set:

The set includes two bags of LEGO pieces, which only took me 10 to 15 minutes to build, so is a nice simple set, with 3 Mini-Figures and the droid making it good value for money.  It’s certainly in the “pocket money” zone because of the price, so the actual main vehicle isn’t amazing, but I do like how the crane is functional and the two stud shooters are also great for play.  I didn’t realise these stud shooters were so powerful as I spent a few minutes on the floor trying to find the stud.  Though it does come with a few spares.

There are also some stud shooters with the Jawas, but it does make them a little top heavy and because of their height, the legs don’t bend like a normal Mini-Figure.  I’m also glad they made sure the bodies for the Jawas have a variant design, so they aren’t identical.

For Mini-Figure fans, this set does offer some advantages, as these characters haven’t been included in a set for a while and are rare, plus it has a droid, so it does contain something useful.  However following the release of “The Last Jedi”, I would have expected more sets based on the newer characters than going back to a scene from the original movies.

OVERALL:  This set offers some incredible value for money, its cheap enough to just pick up and add to your collection at any time, with 3 Mini-Figures and a Droid, plus it comes with a solid vehicle that has some great pieces like the crane and stud shooters.   However it doesn’t really make a great model for display purposes since the main focus is the Mini-Figures rather than the vehicle.

REVIEW SCORE:  7 Out Of 10
