Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War Prelude #1 Review

With the next Avengers movie, Infinity War hitting cinemas in April, Marvel have released a new two part prelude, to get fans up to date for the movie.

The first issue kicks off at the end of Civil War, with the handicap fight between Iron Man and Captain America/Winter Solider, then showing where the Team Captain America head off to after he rescues them from the Raft facility.  And then seeing Winter Solider going through his reprogramming in Wakanda by the Black Panther and his team.

As you might expect from that description, if you’ve seen the movies, you don’t need to read this issue since there is very little new here to warrant a purchase.  Which is a big shame, this feels like a cheap tie-in to grab some new comic readers in the hope they get some news before the Infinity War movie.

The artistic style is very basic, I get a retro vibe as this reminds me of reading Marvel comics as a kid, especially compared to the quality seen in other Marvel comics out now.

OVERALL:

This is a rather poor tie-in that just doesn’t seem needed, I was hoping it might set up something new or give us a hint for Infinity War.   I’d say save your money and watch the movies again or for the first time instead.

REVIEW SCORE: 3 out of 10
