Infinity Countdown: Adam Warlock #1 Review
Marvel have begun setting up their next huge crossover event, “Infinity”, and this countdown prequel issue starts to set up the hunt for the Infinity Stones.
This issue focuses purely on Adam Warlock being brought back from the dead by Kang the Conqueror, who is helping Adam and the rest of the Marvel Super Heroes, because someone is coming after the Infinity Stones and everything is at risk. Though I don’t trust he is helping!
This issue sees Kang take Adam through time, showing the future and taking him back in time to try to hide the stones.
I’ve never read anything with Adam Warlock before and was only really introduced to the character at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, so having a montage to kick the story off explaining his origin was appreciated, especially with a #1 issue.
The artistic style feels very retro, based on the classic comics, which I really liked, it seems to fit the time traveling aspect plus makes it stand out from other Marvel comics I’ve been reading.
OVERALL:
As a one shot to introduce new readers to who Adam Warlock is and set up that a big threat is coming soon, which is so serious, Kang can’t fix it, no matter how many times he tries, so needs help. I really enjoyed it, I’m interested to see where this story arc is going and I’d recommend checking it out.
REVIEW SCORE: 8 out of 10.
