Avengers #682 Review
The No Surrender storyline continues in Avengers #682 and the game kicks into a higher gear in the battle between the Grandmaster and the Challenger.
The addition of Red Wolf into the story is an interesting one, especially with some flashbacks, as he instantly becomes an important character, but again it feels like the writers are using all the lesser known heroes more than then should be. But that has been one of my biggest issues with this story, it is missing the star power.
This issue is packed full of action, though it can be a little distracting over who is fighting who and where.
Once again the issue ends with the exact same cliffhanger of the Hulk coming out of a cave, after four issues it’s getting a little disappointing but hopefully we finally get to see him in action in the later half of this story arc.
No Surrender needs to kick up the speed to make this series worthwhile, it could have done with having some trimming down in the earlier series, but now all those little aspects from the previous issues are starting to take shape and the series is finding its feet.
This issue continues to give us more details on the game and I’m looking forward to seeing this story going into the tail end. Having a weekly series is a much better way of keeping readers involved, as if this was a monthly series, I think it’ll be hard to keep up.
OVERALL:
A great issue that continues a interesting story, with some fantastic artwork, but at this stage, if you aren’t invested already, it might be best to hold off for the trade book.
