Darth Vader #12 Review
Issue #12 sees Darth Vader trying to track down who within the Empire hired Bounty Hunters to kill him, leading him all the way to the Emperor, resulting in him making a very clear and deadly display of leadership.
Its a very interesting storyline, it shows his human side with many different emotions on display including his the fear of death, the anger of a betrayal and also of little compassion. It’s ends on a note that very much shows his Dark Side in full swing and it’s a better comic because of it. I want Darth Vader at his prime and to be in full villain mode, so this book felt much more natural.
The artwork is good, though I found the Emperor to look a little odd, which was a little distracting. But I really enjoyed the scenes with them together and how they showed his skills as a pilot. All these little things help blend together Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader, helping to fill in that backstory between the trilogies.
There is a little cliffhanger at the end, so we know the conspiracy threat is still there, but it also feels like it’s own mini story within the story arc.
OVERALL:
A really solid Star Wars title, easily one of the better issues I’ve read recently, it’s dark and a bit brutal, it’s exactly what I want from a Darth Vader issue.
REVIEW SCORE: 8 out of 10
