French Toy Retailer La Grande Récré Struggling
With Toys “R” Us in the UK in Administration and the US in Bankruptcy, the issues with Toy Retailers continues as a French retailer La Grande Récré, has declared itself in “défaut de paiement”, as its unable to pay its debts.
The company has 1,600 employees and over 200 stores in France. With sales of toys dropping year on year, by around 1%.
There are many reasons why these toy sales have been declining including the “movie effect”, as movies no longer drives toy sales as good as they used too. Plus with competition from websites such as Amazon, less children being born and children being more interested in screens like tablets and the Nintendo Switch. Toy sales are dropping amongst children.
