X-Men Red #2 Review
X-Men Red continues the story of the return of Jean Grey and she gets a new team that head to India to infiltrate a top-secret compound in order to save a mutant they’ve never met.
This series is delivering all the aspects that you would expect from a X-Men comic, an interesting team plus the traditional X-Men story of the mutants being treated badly by Humans and wanting a peaceful life. This issue has all the core points including being chased by fires and pitchforks, plus even a Sentinel turns up, which instantly takes me back to the thrill of the 90’s animated show.
I also think the inclusion of Wakanda into story, as a welcome home to the Mutants is timely, since the Black Panther movie is such a hit, it all helps make this part of the Universe more main stream.
The artwork continues to impress with a colourful and simple design, but that sometimes leaves facial expressions a little less detailed, but it all seems to work.
OVERALL:
X-Men Red feels like a traditional X-Men story, it has every thing you’d want and more. It could do with a little more action, but the way they use Jean Grey’s powers are smart and get the job done. A solid X-Men issue.
