EA Creating A New Open World Star Wars Video Game

Electronic Arts are working on a new Star Wars “Open World” video game as EA have advertised a job listing for a Lead Online Engineer for the upcoming game.

Here is the job description:

Lead a team to deliver Online features for a Star Wars Open World project. You will design, architect and implement the Online infrastructure for the project while working with industry-leading central technologies. You will lead a team of Engineers to accomplish the goals for the product as well as be an effective people manager to grow the talent on the team. You will report to the project Technical Director and ensure that the Online systems are meeting the robustness and performance requirements.

This new title looks to be a cross platform game for Xbox, PlayStation and PC, since the listing says “maintain high-traffic services for multi-platform games”.

EA have previously announced they are working on a few different Star Wars game, one is being created by their Respawn team and another was being created by the former studio, Visceral, before they closed down the studio.  Work on that game was moved to the EA Studio in Vancouver, Canada, which is where this job is located.

There are also other job listings by EA for “Production Designer/Lead Concept Artist” for Star Wars games.

We don’t know much more about this new Star Wars game, but it could easily be years until we get to play it.
