Iron Man: Hong Kong Heroes #1 Review
Iron Man: Hong Kong Heroes is a special one shot to tie in with the Iron Man Experience attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland. It brings in all the different Avengers including Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Hawkeye and Black Widow, to face off with Mordo and Zola.
I wouldn’t worry too much about this being a “Hong Kong” adventure, since it is very vague, since you could just change the skyscrapers from New York to Hong Kong and name drop Hong Kong a few times. It wasn’t much more than that really.
This is a perfect tie in book, though I found the inclusion of a new female in a new version of the Iron Man suit to be a little too forced, I was expecting this to be focused purely on Iron Man, rather than introducing a one dimensional new female character. And with having so many heroes popping up, it just didn’t seem required. Which is also another slight problem with this issue, since they tried squashing way too many heroes into the comic, but for younger fans, this will be popular. No doubt this comic book will be on sale in the gift store at the attraction for years for come.
The artwork is very impressive, its got a painted style, which brings the quality up in my eyes, though I found the faces a little odd in places, but overall I really enjoyed this style.
OVERALL:
If your looking for a simple Avengers one shot, this is a good pickup but the inclusion of the new female hero in a new version of the Iron Man suit, which seemed a little unnecessary, but it helps links it into the attraction in Hong Kong Disneyland. It’s a great little title and worth checking out as I really enjoyed it, its simple but effective.
