Daredevil #600 Review
Issue 600 of Daredevil is a bumper issue, which sees the conclusion of the Mayor Fisk storyline as Daredevil brings together an all star case featuring other heroes like Spider-Man and the Defenders, to finally try to bring down the Kingpin.
With this being a big bumper anniversary issue, I was hoping this might be a good jumping on point for the series, but it felt more like it should have been issue 599, since I really didn’t have any connection to what’s going on and its a shame. And that was my big problem of this huge final fight scene with Blindspot and Muse, I’ll be honest, I have no knowledge of these characters, so I didn’t have a clue what was going on.
It was a lot of fun seeing all the heroes joining in, setting up this major attack on the underworld, I especially liked how the issue featured other big villains like Black Cat and Hammerhead. I also liked how the Hand were brought in right at the end to possibly end “Wilson Fisk”, but I doubt he will be gone for long.
The big final fight with the Kingpin was disappointing since Daredevil didn’t do anything, he just stood there and dodged attacks. He barely did anything for the whole issue!
I also question why this was a bumper issue, the secondary part, which was more like a montage of Daredevil’s greatest hits felt unnecessary and wasn’t worth the additional boost in price. I also found the artwork of the secondary part to be a big messy and I wasn’t impressed.
OVERALL:
Being honest, I was disappointed with this issue, I had hoped this would be a good issue to jump into the world of Daredevil since its been a while since I last read any. But sadly it just didn’t hit the mark, it suffers from having too many heroes involved, who barely are used, or used those extra pages to give a huge brawl between the major players, which what the cover had suggested. This wasn’t the milestone issue I was expecting.
