Star Wars #46 Review
Star Wars #46 continues the Mutiny At Mon Cala story and sees the crew bring in a shape shifter to play the role of a Moff, who will impersonate him during a party. I also liked how this helped tie the gap between “Clone Wars” and “A New Hope”, since we haven’t seen much of the Clawdite’s in the Star Wars movies.
And that wasn’t the only reminder of the “Clone Wars”, as the comic ended on a cliffhanger, that just looked exactly like the underwater scene from “The Phantom Menace”. Not that I think that’s a bad thing, I always felt the prequels never matched up with the style of the original trilogy properly, but Disney continue to try to bridge the gap.
This is a fun little issue, reminding me of classic spy movies, which is a nice change of pace from the usual Star Wars stories.
The art style continues to be jarring as the photorealistic look just looks odd, though I did like how they represented the unknown humans in a similar style, which kept it in-keeping with the series style. It did seem to work much better in this issue than previous ones.
OVERALL:
A fun comic that I enjoyed reading, but eventually it might be nothing more than a stop gap in this arc.
