Darth Vader #14 Review
Issue 14 of Darth Vader, sees Darth Vader and the Empire trying to gain control of the water planet of Mon Cala. It’s an interesting story from when the Empire was growing and the Rebellion wasn’t yet created, but the seeds of distain for the Empire are there.
This issue is less focused on Darth Vader and more on the situation, we see the thoughts behind the invasion of the planet from both sides. We’ve never seen the Empire battling a war underwater, so I’m going to be interested to see if we get to see this in the following issues. It was a surprise to see the King sacrifice his land to keep it out the hands of the Empire.
I’ve been really enjoying learning more of the Mon Calamari and this series continues to be my favourite Star Wars title. The addition of long lost Jedi’s hiding on the planet help set up some future conflict with Darth Vader.
The artwork continues to impress and I loved how the writers showed AT-AT and AT-ST attacking, as those vehicles always caught my attention from their debut in Empire Strikes Back.
OVERALL:
This Darth Vader issue is another highlight in today’s new Star Wars comics and it’s interesting to see stories involving the Empire.
