Review: Disney’s Aladdin Doll Collection from Hasbro

For today’s review, I am going to take a look at the Hasbro collection of dolls from the recently released Disney’s Aladdin live action movie. Thanks to the team over at Hasbro, I received this beautiful package in the mail a couple of weeks ago.

The package contained three regular dolls, two singing dolls, a deluxe Jasmine doll, and a five doll gift pack. Needless to say, the collection as a whole looks amazing. I wanted to wait to take a closer look at these dolls until after I saw the movie, which I was able to do earlier this week. Let’s check them out.

Regular Dolls

The regular doll releases include “Street Rat” Aladdin with Abu, Jasmine, and Genie in human form.

Deluxe Glamorous Jasmine Doll

Featuring Princess Jasmine in a beautiful palace gown, this doll comes in a highly detailed dress and a beautiful window box.

Singing Jasmine and Genie Dolls

The Singing Jasmine doll showcases Princess Jasmine in her “A Whole New World” outfit. She also sings a snippet of the song.

The Singing Genie doll showcases Will Smith’s Genie inside the Cave of Wonders. The doll also sings a segment of “Friend Like Me”.

The Agrabah Collection- Five Doll Gift Set

The Agrabah Collection set of dolls include exclusive versions of Aladdin (as Prince Ali), Princess Jasmine, and the Genie. Also included in this set are the only doll versions released of Jafar and Dalia, Jasmine’s handmaiden.

Overall, as a collection I really like these dolls. The likenesses to the actors are pretty great, especially with the characters of the Genie and Dalia. I appreciate that Abu was included in with the single Aladdin release, but I would have enjoyed seeing Iago somewhere in the mix, as well as the Magic Carpet.

I decided that I wanted to open up a few of the dolls to see how they were out of packaging. Since I am a big fan of the animated movie, I opened the three that reminded me most of the classic looks of the characters: “Street Rat” Aladdin, Singing Princess Jasmine, and Singing Genie.

Now, clear writing on the packaging does not guarantee that the dolls will stand on their own. Aladdin and Genie, however, did pretty well. Jasmine… not so much. Still, if one were to get these dolls to display on a shelf where they can lean on one another, they would do quite well.

If there are little ones in your life who enjoy the Aladdin franchise, go out and find these dolls. They are high quality work by Hasbro, and a great representation of a decent live-action remake. Our friends over at Entertainment Earth has them up for ordering if you want to get them online.

Special thanks to the team at Hasbro for sending these dolls over for me to review.
