The orchestra’s musical director and arranger, Steve Pycroft commented, “Skrillex has been a huge inspiration to me since founding Kaleidoscope Orchestra in 2011. The first orchestra ‘remix’ I arranged was a suite of Skrillex’s music, which we recorded in 2012. When I heard ‘Face My Fears’ in January 2019, I was in South Africa visiting family and it became the soundtrack for the whole trip. The song is so cinematic, inspiring and full of emotion; so I began to think about how it would work as an orchestral piece. I started work on the arrangement in March and we recorded it in April.
Kaleidoscope Orchestra is a breakaway orchestra, whose mission is to bridge the gap between classical music and electronic music. We love introducing people to orchestral music through this coming together of different styles, genres and the collaboration of artists from completely different backgrounds.”
