Adding Butterflies To Small World, Marching Bands And Other Details In The Magic Kingdom
Going to the Magic Kingdom is always fun. The distance is relatively small so if the Monorail is excessively crowded and slow — as it was this weekend– we can just walk from the Contemporary Resort to the Park. This time of the year gets crowded with all of the holiday decorations in tow, as well as visitors being off for the holidays. We also glimpsed the gingerbread display.
We saw a marching band when we went two weekends ago. They were from Naples, a bunch of high school students playing instruments in the streets of the Magic Kingdom. That was a new thing for us, who have mainly seen the character parades.
As someone who did holiday choir concerts, I felt some sympathy. Some of the kids looked exhausted, on a weekend field trip before finals. Even so, that they were here meant that Disney trusted them to perform well, to provide some cheer to us harried visitors.
The Rides
Small World is fun because there are always tiny details to observe. You may see a new butterfly, or more carpets flying above the Indian Taj Mahal. I swore that some of the kites were new.
Why are the butterflies amazing? Because they add a splash of color to this world. They catch your eye, and soothe a person. If there are butterflies, then this world is worth saving.
Not to mention, the ride is feel-good. You see a bunch of puppets from various countries dancing, ignoring all the hazards that are going on in the world. While Walt Disney had his faults, he understood the message that people needed to hear.
This Christmas, find the little things that bring you joy. The little sparks of life will make a difference.
