Pop! Review: Firefighter Donald Duck

Today, I take a look at a Disney Pop! Vinyl that was released back during New York Comic Con last year. A shared exclusive between the convention and Barnes and Noble locations here in the US, here is Firefighter Donald Duck.

This is only the third Pop! Vinyl of Donald Duck, with a regular version released back in 2012 and a Kingdom Hearts Halloweentown version released at NYCC 2017. This version of Donald Duck pays tribute to the brave firefighters out there. Additionally, it celebrates the numerous times Donald Duck has been a firefighter in cartoons and comics, especially “Fire Chief”.

I really like this sculpt. It’s a great representation of my #1 Duck.

While this piece was only available at New York Comic Con and Barnes and Noble stores, obviously it is not available retail wide. However, back in January when I was at a Barnes and Noble, I saw that Donald was still on the shelf. I mean, he wasn’t out in abundance, but he could still be in stores, and possibly places online.

I really like when Disney and Funko collaborate to bring nods to the older cartoons and comics. I personally would love to see more of it, especially some of the offshoot characters, like the ghosts fromĀ Ghost Hunters and Spike the Bee, the latter becoming more recognizable because of Epcot bringing him to their Flower & Garden Festival.

Did you add this version of Donald Duck to your collection? What are your thoughts on releasing the classic Fab Five Disney characters in some of their cartoon personas? Let me know in the comments below.
