Review: The Black Hole Action Figures (Diamond Select)
For today’s review, I am taking a look at a set of action figures dedicated to a Disney movie that gets very little love over the years. A Diamond Select Toys release this spring, here are The Black Hole Select action figures.
The Black Hole, released in 1979, is a Disney live-action movie set in space. While it was not well received by critics and most viewers, it did earn two Academy Awards nominations and does have a bit of a cult following. With the film celebrating its’ 40th Anniversary last year, we saw a bit of a celebration of the film leading up to it and continuing this year. If you didn’t see, I did review the Funko Pop! Vinyls from this movie that were released at New York Comic Con back in 2017. I am a fan of this movie, and I feel like it’s a guilty pleasure of mine. I was happy to see that it was added to the Disney + streaming service that launched last November.
For this line of Select action figures, Diamond Select created a 2pk of robots V.I.N.CENT and B.O.B, and a stand alone pack of robot Maximilian. Both packs come with multiple accessories and part of a diorama that can be assembled if both packs are purchased. Let’s take a closer look.
V.I.N.CENT and B.O.B.
Accessories included with V.I.N.CENT and B.O.B are different arms and other pieces, as well as display stands. They do not have a lot of articulation, especially with the damaged B.O.B.
Maximilian
Maximilian comes with various arm attachments and a display stand, as well as a swappable head. For articulation, he has a swivel head, and each of his arms has a few points of articulation.
Additionally, here is the completed display stand, part of the ship the Palomino.
I want to thank the team at Diamond Select for sending these pieces over for me to review. I really enjoyed playing around with them, and they will be a great addition to my Disney collection.
If you would like to add these pieces to your collection, check out our friends over at Entertainment Earth, who have them up for pre-ordering now, with a release later this year.
