Big Hero 6 The Series Invade New York Comic Con
During the last day of the virtual 2020 New York Comic Con, Disney Television Animation presented its second and final panel centering around Big Hero 6 The Series and its currently airing third season. While the panel was more of an interview with the voice cast rather than a panel discussing the contents of the seasons, it is still a fun watch for fans of the animated series based on the obscure Marvel comic.
Some of the highlights of the panel included:
- Seeing a minute long clip featuring the return of fan favourite character Karmi seeing Hiro after a long time before villain Hardlight ( voiced by Kim Possible’s Will Friedle) takes over her toys to frame Big Hero 6
- Hearing about how Jamie Chung (the voice of GoGo Tomago) had to take singing lessons from her husband for one of the episodes which will be a musical
- This is the first time many of the actors have seen each other since they record their lines separately
- Khary Payton ( Wasabi) recalling his first time meeting Stan Lee during production of the first season at a convention. Lee asked him to get him more cameos on the show
- Nicole Bloom (Superstore) is confirmed as a guest star as a love interest for young Fred. Kirby Howell-Baptiste (The Good Place) will be a guest character voicing a character from Heathcliff’s past.
- Ryan Porter discusses how the show impacted young Asian children and how many people have asked him to voice Hiro for younger relatives. He discusses how the show brought forth many characters from different cultures and its importance. He was 16 when he first started recording for Hiro in the original film.
- Jamie Chung discusses who would win in a fight between GoGo and Mulan (which she played on ABC’s Once Upon A Time), she determines GoGo would win due to being faster and smarter than Mulan.
- Brooks Wheelan (Fred) reveals the recording studio is stocked full of Mountain Dew soda and he had to stop recording once due to drinking too many of them. He revealed during the recording of one of the Baymax Dreams episodes, he passed out due to the many screams and takes he had to do playing the miniature Freds.
- Season 3 will be mainly be about friendship and family showing both heroes and villains longing for those two elements such as Noodle Burger Boy corrupting other food mascots to act as his new family
- A final clip is shown from the episode with Korean singers Nikoon and J-Park. The clip shows them playing new heroes on the town 42 stopping various villains from the series and making fools out of Big Hero 6.
