5 More Closures Announced: Disney Store Locations Shutting in GA MN NJ MS TX
In early March, Disney Store announced plans to shutter 60 locations in the United States and Canada, as part of a push to emphasize e-commerce. Last week, 40 of those stores closed permanently. Today, DisKingdom learned of five more closures. They are:
- Perimeter Mall, Dunwoody, Georgia
- Ridgedale Center, Minnetonka, Minnesota
- Gulfport Premium Outlets, Gulfport, Mississippi
- Bergen Outlet, Paramus, New Jersey
- Hulen Mall, Fort Worth, Texas
The final 15 locations are still a mystery.
Each of these five locations will close “on or before April 23,” according to the Disney Store locator.
According to Biloxi, Mississippi newspaper the Sun Herald, store staff learned of the closure on March 25. The Facebook group listed in the article has since been deleted.
Gulfport is the final location of The Disney Store in Mississippi.
The Minnetonka store opened in October 1995. Its closure means Minnesota’s only location of the store is The Mall of America, in Bloomington.
Georgia will only have one other location, after this closure: Buford’s Mall of Georgia.
Texas will keep eleven locations, and eight locations will remain in New Jersey. Hulen Mall’s location opened in April 1992.
The Georgia, Minnesota, and Texas stores had all been updated to the Imagination Park store design in recent years. Previous rounds of closures had some Imagination Park stores, but many earlier layouts.
