Five characters appear above a logo for Disney Store en Liverpool

Mexican department store Liverpool opens 35 locations of the Disney Store

Mexican department store Liverpool has opened 35 store-within-store areas of Disney merchandise. Branded as Disney Store, these areas began opening on March 31. The Disney-designed areas include “novelties and surprises such as interactive screens,” according to Fashion Network.

Disney products arrived on the Liverpool website on April 5.

Liverpool is fond of store-in-store concepts, with similar areas for GAP, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, and others.

In the spring, the chain promised an “unprecedented” grand opening event, according to Raspberry Mag. That took the form of an A cappella performance and projection on the front of their Perisur Shopping Centre store in Mexico City. The projections featured scenes from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars productions.

It’s interesting timing for the openings. Amid the seemingly endless, worldwide Disney Store closures, some store-in-store concepts have also been pulled. Disney had a number of locations in Italy’s COIN department stores, all of which have been closed. Most locations within France’s high-end Galeries Lafayette suffered the same fate. In the United States, select Target stores have Disney sections.

Ultimately though, these are just departments in a store, with no evidence of the same training or customer service that people have come to associate with the traditional The Disney Store locations.
