Disney Store’s Iconic Sculpture Displays Up for Auction

Think back to The Disney Store’s iconic early years. The mountain of plush, the film strips around the entrance, the energetic carpet pattern. One of the neatest things about the stores, though, were the larger sculptures of Disney characters in the front windows and around the ceiling.

Online auction house Heritage Auctions is selling a large number of the iconic display figures, from an unidentified collection.

It’s not unprecedented for these statues to show up here and there, but largely they were ordered destroyed when stores renovated or closed. These fibreglass figs were never meant for private collections, but some have snuck out.

And by some, I mean dozens. The auction includes 63 lots mentioning Disney Store, only one of which was a “big fig” sold to the public. Everything else is either one of these statues, or another type of signage.

As of 7:59 pm on March 17, the most expensive lot is a statue of Daisy Duck, and the cheapest are Cast Member manuals, $1 plus buyers’ premium.
