Review: Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures Action Figures (Hasbro)

*Thank you to Hasbro for sending these figures over for me to review.*

For today’s review, I take a look at the first two waves of action figures that Hasbro released in celebration of Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures, a series of animated shorts “encouraging the next generation of Star Wars fans to explore a galaxy far, far away.” These shorts, available on the Star Wars Kids website and YouTube Channel, let “fans new and old experience the classic themes, pivotal moments, and iconic characters from the Star Wars saga together”.

Waves 1 and 2 of this line of action figures features 3.75″ versions of some of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars universe. Each figure comes with an accessory, as well as a mini comic book showcasing pages from the Star Wars: The Original Trilogy Graphic Novel. Additionally, each packaging contains a scannable QR code so fans can learn more about the given characters.

Let’s take a closer look at these action figures, which feature Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, R2-D2, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and Stormtrooper.

Luke Skywalker, featured here from Episode VI, comes with his lightsaber.

Darth Vader, featured in Episodes III through VI, also comes with his lightsaber.

Yoda, featured in Episodes I, II, III, V, and VI comes with his cane and lightsaber.

R2-D2, who appears in all Episodes to date, comes with his booster jets.

Han Solo, who appears in Episodes IV, V, VI, and VII comes with his blaster.

Princess Leia, featured here in her Episode V Hoth gear, comes with a blaster gun.

Chewbacca, part of Episodes IV, V, VI, VII, and VII, comes with his bowcaster.

Lastly, the Stormtrooper comes with a blaster.

I do find it interesting that the action figures don’t resemble neither the artwork of the animated shorts nor the artwork of the comic books. That being said, the figures themselves are pretty sweet looking, especially the ones that have the resemblance of the actors who played Luke (Mark Hamill), Han (Harrison Ford), and Leia (the late Carrie Fisher). Hasbro has really gotten the sculpting technology down to where the figures look very lifelike, and I appreciate that.

My favorite figures in these waves are Yoda, Vader, Chewbacca, and Leia. However, growing up with all things Star Wars, all of these characters are ingrained in my childhood, so I like them all.

You can pick up these figures, as well as other Star Wars goodies by Hasbro, at most major brick n’ mortar retailers such as Walmart. You can also pick them up over at Entertainment Earth.

Special thanks again to the team at Hasbro for sending these figures over for me to review. Much appreciated, as always.
