Planets made of LEGO hang around the STAR WARS logo.

LEGO Masters Take on Star Wars Builds in Season Five Premiere

It wasn’t enough for Darth Vader to destroy Alderaan. On the season five premiere of LEGO Masters, debuted May 19, he’s blown up an entire solar system of LEGO planets.

All that remained were the lower halves of the planets, the platforms on which the latest set of contestants were to build their creations. So what were Will Arnett and the judges presented?

Teams were told to create worlds that represent themselves in some way, but still involve Star Wars characters and lore. The mix is uneven at best: while on the of the two Jedi schools goes to the point of including an archive, there’s also a candy planet, complete with a gingerbread house and candy canes.

As in part seasons, certain builds are given the computer animated treatment. Here’s one minifig bungee jumping.

Ben and Michael’s BM225 is a standout with not only a working conveyor belt with astromech droids on the line, but also independently moving “arms,” chugging away above the structure.

A scene of a factory with working parts.

Also catching my eye, Niki and Brittain’s Verdura Nova, because of its focus on the planet’s rock forms and plants. The design also really reflects the vibe of the planet it’s built on.

LEGO Masters can be streamed on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+, and in Canada on CTV.ca.
